100th Anniversary

The Terra Nova Council 1452 will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary on November 30th, 2009 and planning for the event is moving ahead quite smoothly. The committees have been in place for over a year and have been meeting on a regular basis, looking at possible projects for the Anniversary Year.

The Executive Committee consists of the following: Kevin Dormody, PGK, Chairman; Wayne Bulger, PGK, Vice-Chair and Liaison Director with the Sub-Committees; Keith McDonald, GK, Ex-Officio; Rick McDonald, PGK, Liaison Director (Terra Nova Council, Dalton Council and State Council); John Power, PGK, Treasurer; William Wescott, Secretary.

The Sub-Committees are as follows: Dave Casey, Fundraising; Edward Clancey, Projects; Lawrence Meaney, Public relations and Marketing; Norm Peddle, Youth; Edith Rose, Ladies/Family; Howard Dyer, PGK, Historical; John Dawe, Social and Kevin Dormody, PGK, Church (Temporary).

Some highlights to date include: Letters to Supreme and Deputy Supreme Knights re: coming to Harbour Grace and St. John’s in November 2009; request for a Papal Blessing, through our Chaplain Msgr. Doody; various ideas for a theme, logo and lapel pin.

100th Anniversary Picture Memory Book

The 100th Anniversary Ladies Committee is currently seeking pictures (old and recent) for possible use in a memory book of pictures to be released in the Spring of 2010. If you have any pictures that you would like to submit for possible inclusion in the book you can do so by emailing them to kofcpictures@nl.rogers.com or by mailing them to: Terra Nova Council 1452, P.O. Box 955, 49 St. Clare Ave., St. John's, NL A1C 5M3 to the Attention of Mary Greeley. Please include your return address as all pictures will be promptly returned.

It would be helpful if for each picture submitted you could include a brief note on the picture (i.e event, names of individuals, etc.).

100th Anniversary Flag

Flag Features: The center of the flag displays the official 100th Anniversary Logo. The words Charity, Fraternity, Unity and Patriotism, the four principles of the Order, surround the emblem in colors that match the colors used in the Knights of Columbus Emblems. These four Principles along with the four arrows represent a ship “Captains Wheel” used to steer and keep a ship on course. The four arrows by themselves represent the four points of a compass (North, South, East and West) and point to the three emblems of the Order and the flag of Newfoundland and Labrador.
